Dilip Joshi who became a household name after his portrayal of Jethalal Gada within the popular television serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah celebrates his 53rd birthday today. The series aired in 2008 and is one among the longest-running Indian sitcoms by episode count.

The actor has been a neighborhood of the show business for an extended time and has also essayed many roles before he became Jethalal. On this occasion of his birthday, here are 8 interesting facts about the ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah’ star.

Dilip Joshi facts:

Dilip Joshi started his acting career in 1989, playing the role of Ramu within the film Maine Pyar Kiya which starred Salman Khan and Bhagyashree.

While doing BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) Dilip Joshi was awarded the INT (Indian National Theater) Best programmer .

The actor is married to Jaymala Joshi and that they are blessed two children, a son Ritwik Joshi and a daughter Neeyati Joshi.

Dilip Joshi was a neighborhood of Gujarati theatre for over 25 years and his last play was ‘Daya Bhai Do Dhaya’ which led to 2007.

He has also appeared in films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, What’s Your Raashee? and far more.

Before bagging TMKOC, reportedly, he was first offered the role of Jethalal’s father Champaklal Gada.

For his performance in TMKOC, Dilip has received several accolades, including 5 Telly awards and a couple of ITA awards.

As per reports, Dilip Joshi takes back home Rs 1.5 lakh for each episode.
